Multi-objective optimization of machining parameter in laser drilling of glass microballoon/epoxy syntactic foams

The effect of CO2 laser drilling on glass microballoon/epoxy syntactic foams are investigated in this study to optimize machining parameters achieve a clean hole for various industrial applications. epoxy matrix is reinforced with microballoons concentrations 0, 20 and 40 vol%. Cutting speed, power additive percentage input optimization. Kerf taper angle, surface roughness ovality used as output responses evaluate quality. For the optimization study, hybrid multi-criteria decision-making methods such grey relational analysis multi-objective ratio assessment used, equal weightage given each response. According low high speed produce better results smaller kerf lower percentage. Furthermore, higher not appropriate epoxy/glass microballoon composite because it burns area near increases roughness.
